JACKSON HOLE

What is it?

Where in the world is Jackson Hole? Well to begin the place is more properly called Jackson’s Hole and was named such by David (Davey) Jackson, a fur trader who came west from Missouri in the early 1800’s. The “hole” refers to the entire valley. The valley is about 20 miles wide and 40 miles long and is tucked in between two mountain ranges just below Yellowstone National Park. Over the years since Davey Jackson trapped the area settlers and visitors alike have come to know the whole place simply as Jackson Hole. At the south most end of the valley sits a little town called Jackson. What most visitors mistakenly call Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole claims to be The Last of The Old West and rightly so. When you step into the valley time reverses to a period most of America has long since forgotten.
